LARGE ANTIQUE/VINTAGE ART NOUVEAU DRESS CLIP BRASS-COLOR W/AMETHYST GLASS (25g)

Description

This large brass-toned Art Nouveau dress clip has beautiful amethyst-colored glass rhinestones.  The glass is in fantastic shape, and the clip must have been largely unused. Vines and flowers in the brass-colored metal are covered with a large, medium and smaller glass crystals.  There is the largest in the middle, approx. 6mm x 8 mm, surrounded by ten smaller pieces in a flower-petal pattern.  Then the clip has six medium-size pieces, and 7 more smaller pieces placed in an oval around the clip.  The rhinestones are prong-set and all seem tight. The six medium-sized rhinestones are open at the back and the light comes through beautifully. There is no foil backing on these and because they are in such fantastic condition, they may be crystal instead of glass. The clip is 1 7/8" across at the widest point, and about 2 1/4" from top to bottom and 1 3/4" from side to side and weighs 25 grams.  The spring on the hinge is still tight. Given to me by my mother, it may have belonged to her mother or be an estate find.  It is in excellent shape and can be worn to enhance any suit or blouse and make an impression/statement at the throat, or on a breast pocket.  It also works on a cell-phone pouch on purses, and would make a "wow" impression if pinned on an evening bag.
